About the Workshop:

Learn how to use flowers, kitchen waste, and plant materials to create color on fabric in a unique and sustainable way. This workshop goes over protein and cellulose fibers, dye plants, folding techniques and textile applications. A large silk square scarf and 2 cotton napkins are provided. Students are invited to bring other small pieces of fabric or clothing items to dye (white, natural fibers work best).

About the Teacher:

Alayna is a textile artist and designer who works with natural fibers and plant dyes in her art practice as well as her collection of one of a kind clothing. Trained through a residency at the Textile Art Center in Brooklyn, NY, Alayna has a breadth of knowledge in weaving, quilting, screenprinting, and dyeing. You can view samples of her work here. She is currently an MFA candidate at MSU.
