What:

In this 2 hour workshop, you will learn Kumihimo, a Japanese braiding technique that uses a disc and 8 strands to produce a beautiful round cord. The applications for Kumihimo braiding include... In this workshop, you will learn 4 and 8 strand braiding with naturally dyed silk and will leave with a completed bracelet. The workshop fee also includes your own recycled kumihimo disc so you can continue to braid cord at home. You will also leave with a syllabus to help you continue practicing at home.

About the Teacher:

Alayna is a textile artist and designer who works with natural fibers and plant dyes in her art practice as well as her collection of one of a kind clothing. Trained through a residency at the Textile Art Center in Brooklyn, NY, Alayna has a breadth of knowledge in weaving, quilting, screenprinting, and dyeing. You can view samples of her work here. She is currently an MFA candidate at MSU.
